Petroleum engineers are professionals who specialize in designing and developing ways to extract crude oil and natural gas from under the earth’s surface.  Their jobs involve both stages of exploration to find the underground deposit and the production of oil and gas.  Petroleum engineering combines the knowledge of many related disciplines such as geophysics, drilling, and mechanical engineering.

For this week’s edition of the Top Career 100 interview series, we are graced by a brilliant petroleum engineer to share her expertise in the field with our listeners interested in this career.

Let’s welcome Mary Studlick, a registered professional engineer in Texas since 1992. Mary has worked in the oil and gas industry since 1981. Currently, she works as a Global Environmental Manager whose primary works involved drilling, managing a team of individuals who support environmental issues on drilling rigs worldwide.

Over the course of her professional career, she had worked in various settings in the same field.  In particular, she is very experienced in drilling rigs, refineries, chemical plants, lube plants, pipeline facilities, shipping, film plants and fuels marketing terminals.
