People have this basic need to connect and some would often find this special connection, with animals. As French Writer Anatole France would put it, “Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened”. In this edition of the Career 100 podcast, Felicia Gopaul interviews Veterinarian Tawnia Shaw who will be sharing to us her love for animals and her dedication to educate pet owners and help them keep their pets as healthy as possible.

Tawnia Shaw always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian and her dream began when she started working with Everett Veterinary Hospital (EVH). She started as a Kennel assistant and worked her way up through just about every position in the hospital while attending Oregon Institute of Technology and graduated with a BS in Health Sciences. In 2001, she was accepted to Oregon State University’s four-year Veterinarian program, and while in school she returns to EVH during summers and holidays to further her experience and keep up wonderful relationships with the clients and patients. She then graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine on June 5, 2006 from both Oregon and Washington State Universities and rejoined her family in Klamath Basin. At the same time she rejoined the team at EVH.
