It takes a village to raise a child.  Demands for childcare have increased with more parents working outside the homes.  Before these children become productive members of society, we need people who are willing to devote their personal and professional lives nurturing their curiosity and guide them in learning.

Let’s listen to Felicia Gopaul, president and founder of College Funding Resource, as she interviews our early childcare provider guest — Stephanie Palmer.

Stephanie Palmer has been working in the early childcare and education field for over 30 years. She received an AA in early childhood education in 1979 and a BA in psychology.  She earned her certification in elementary education from Immaculata University in 1999.  After gaining much experience in the classroom, she moved on to a leadership role in 2001 .

Presently, she is the director of a program accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.  Her center has been awarded with a 4 star rating, the highest rating by Pennsylvania’s Keystone STARS, a choice quality initiative for early childhood centers in Pennsylvania.

In this podcast, we’ll learn more about Palmer in this interview, especially on these topics:

  • How a quality early childcare program can affect a child’s adult life
  • The importance of knowledge on different theories of child development in becoming an effective early childcare service provider
  • How she has dealt with some of the common misconceptions that people have with professionals like her
  • Why her job is so rewarding, especially in preparing these children to become a useful member of the society

Stephanie finds fulfillment by her involvement in various volunteer work such as being the chairperson with the Fresh Air Fund, a New York City non-profit organization that offers under-privileged inner city children a vacation in the country, and being a Sunday school teacher.
